is Metropolis’debut on Absolute Records. Having already made their presence felt with
their previous releases, Metropolis prepares to not only match, but

Sometimes,
the name-tags we hang on musical genres wear out. Such is the
case with the 'alternative' tag. There was a time when bands
like The Cure, Psychedelic Furs, Depeche Mode and New Order
made music that was truly an alternative to the 'corporate muzak'
of it's day. Now a band is emerging in Christian music whose
sound harks back to the refreshing sound that came to be called
'alternative music'- Absolute Record's newest signing, Metropolis.
Three
of Metropolis's four members have been making music together
since 1991. The addition of the fourth member in 1995 marked
the beginning of the band's unique creative direction. Prior
to signing with Absolute, Metropolis had already made a mark
in Christian music with their independent 1996 release, Fade.
Fade captured the attention of national radio with its two top
20 singles "You" and "Inside" (PRR/ Modern Rock). As well as
radio, many national publications such as CCM, True Tunes News,
and HM took notice of the promising talent exhibited in Fade.
As Michael Mann of CCM magazine states "Metropolis will always
rule."
Presenting
a creative and dramatic stage show is what has made audiences
responsive to Metropolis. Concert Promoter Chuck Gribosky states,
"We were impressed with their approach to their task as well
as their enthusiasm in performing it." While touring extensively
throughout Florida and other parts of the nation, and performing
with various national acts, Metropolis has built up a loyal
following.
The combination
of a well established past, creative live performances, and unique
musical craftsmanship makes Metropolis who they are. As the newest
members of the Absolute Records family, they are poised to take their
music and ministry to a broader audience. Their debut release for
the label is scheduled for April of 2000.
